Hotels & Casinos: contractor and candidate FAQ

Questions about hiring and working on hotels & casinos mechanical projects. These answers describe preparation and recruiting, not the requirements of a specific contract or an advertised opening.

For contractors

What should a contractor include in a hotel & casino hiring request?

Define guest-room, central-plant, domestic hot-water, kitchen or pool-related scope. Explain occupied-property restrictions, floor-by-floor turnover and service access. Identify casino-specific ventilation only when applicable; hotel and casino work is not one uniform equipment specification.

Which roles and scope details should we separate?

Relevant roles can include HVAC service technician, Chiller technician, Plumber, Pipefitter, Project manager. Specify whether the assignment is field installation, service, detailing, estimating or project delivery. Identify the systems involved: guest rooms, wet side, plumbing, kitchens, pools & gaming. These are examples of building work, not a claim that every project includes every system or that every role is currently open.

How do we start a confidential search?

Use the employer inquiry form with the role, market, timing and project scope. Include required credentials, schedule constraints and whether the position is union-covered or salaried. Gulfstream recruits for commercial mechanical contractors, including union-signatory and merit-shop firms. Recruiting is separate from union dispatch; any agreement and referral requirements must be confirmed for your assignment.

For candidates

What experience should I highlight for hotel & casino work?

Prepare examples of phased guest-floor renovation, hot-water recirculation, chiller service or kitchen and pool-system coordination. Describe how you worked around guests and operating staff. List the systems you actually handled rather than claiming every specialty within an operating property.

Can I apply if my experience comes from another building type?

Yes, you can submit your background for review, but suitability depends on the specific role. Describe the systems you know, your actual responsibilities and any gaps in specialist experience. Useful project context includes renovations in properties that stay open; phased floor-by-floor turnover; high service demands after opening. Your recruiter can discuss whether that experience fits an active search; this guide does not promise eligibility or a placement.

Where can I find openings, and will they all be hotel & casino projects?

Use the related trade and city jobs pages to review active Gulfstream postings, then apply from the specific job when one fits. Postings are not tagged by building type, so those listings are not a confirmed list of projects in this category. Your recruiter confirms project scope and fit. You can also submit a general application; client identities remain private, and your details stay confidential until you approve a submission.
