We are currently seeking a dedicated Commercial Plumbing/HVAC Preconstruction Engineer for a full-time role in our San Diego, CA office. The ideal candidate will have a stable, local work history, a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME), and experience in sales, estimating, and engineering in the commercial plumbing and HVAC industry.
Responsibilities:
Provide technical engineering information to ensure construction work complies with all engineering standards, codes, and contract specifications.
Evaluate projects for constructability and value-engineer cost savings.
Create and present preconstruction documents and estimates to clients during bidding process.
Collaborate with clients, architects, and contractors to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
Use knowledge of material costs and value engineering, and labor productivity to ensure accurate estimates.
Assist sales teams in preparation of proposals and presentations.
Develop relationships with clients, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to establish trust and increase the likelihood of repeat business.
Perform site visits and document findings for incorporation into estimates.
Attend industry events and seminars to stay up-to-date on market trends and technology advancements in commercial plumbing and HVAC.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) or related field.
Proven local work history, with a minimum of 5 years in a similar role.
Strong experience in commercial plumbing and HVAC estimating and engineering.
Excellent knowledge of engineering principles and HVAC and plumbing systems.
Proficiency in reading and understanding construction drawings and specifications.
Experience with HVAC and plumbing design software is preferred.
Strong sales and negotiation skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously in a high-pressure environment.
Must possess a valid driver's license.
