Job Title: Commercial Plumbing/HVAC Preconstruction Engineer

Location: San Diego, CA


Job Description:

We are currently seeking a dedicated Commercial Plumbing/HVAC Preconstruction Engineer for a full-time role in our San Diego, CA office. The ideal candidate will have a stable, local work history, a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME), and experience in sales, estimating, and engineering in the commercial plumbing and HVAC industry.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical engineering information to ensure construction work complies with all engineering standards, codes, and contract specifications.
  • Evaluate projects for constructability and value-engineer cost savings.
  • Create and present preconstruction documents and estimates to clients during bidding process.
  • Collaborate with clients, architects, and contractors to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
  • Use knowledge of material costs and value engineering, and labor productivity to ensure accurate estimates.
  • Assist sales teams in preparation of proposals and presentations.
  • Develop relationships with clients, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to establish trust and increase the likelihood of repeat business.
  • Perform site visits and document findings for incorporation into estimates.
  • Attend industry events and seminars to stay up-to-date on market trends and technology advancements in commercial plumbing and HVAC.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) or related field.
  • Proven local work history, with a minimum of 5 years in a similar role.
  • Strong experience in commercial plumbing and HVAC estimating and engineering.
  • Excellent knowledge of engineering principles and HVAC and plumbing systems.
  • Proficiency in reading and understanding construction drawings and specifications.
  • Experience with HVAC and plumbing design software is preferred.
  • Strong sales and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously in a high-pressure environment.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
