Job Title: Senior Building Automation Sales Engineer
Location: Portland, OR

Job Summary
We seek an experienced Senior Building Automation Sales Engineer to spearhead our efforts to expand our client base and enhance our presence in the building automation and controls market. The role will focus on building and maintaining strong client relationships while developing comprehensive solutions integrating energy-efficient building systems. Utilizing consultative sales techniques such as SPIN and Challenger Selling, the ideal candidate will maximize vertical and horizontal market reach, driving growth through a robust sales pipeline and a deep understanding of building systems integration.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build and maintain lasting client relationships, expanding business within existing accounts while prospecting for new opportunities. 
  • Develop and implement sales strategies for leveraging the company's diverse product offerings, focusing on energy efficiency, LED lighting upgrades, system integration, and comprehensive building automation controls.
  • Work with clients to assess building systems, including HVAC, DDC control systems (BACnet preferred), and lighting solutions, delivering customized automation and control projects. 
  • Lead the consultative sales process, understanding the client's total energy and operational costs. 
  • Participate actively in industry organizations like BOMA, IFMA, and ASHRAE. 
Top Qualifications
  • Minimum of 5 years of direct experience in Building Automation systems, including HVAC, DDC, and lighting controls.
  • Proven B2B sales experience with a strong track record in account management, client development, and delivering business growth.
  • Extensive knowledge of BACnet control protocols, Ethernet networks, and building automation integration.
  • Experience with Tridium Niagara, Distech, and energy-efficient lighting systems.
  • Strong technical knowledge of design-build and plan-specification projects, with the ability to work with engineering, programming, and installation teams.
  • Proficiency with CRM systems and Microsoft Office, with excellent communication and presentation skills.
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Business or a related field (preferred but not mandatory).
  • Familiarity with high-rise building systems and extensive commercial facilities.
  • Experience in client-facing roles, conducting presentations, and managing client expectations throughout the sales and project lifecycle.
  • Proven ability to develop robust sales strategies and negotiate agreements with a strong attention to detail.
