Overview
We seek an experienced and highly skilled Senior HVAC Estimator to join our team in Columbus, OH. This leadership role is pivotal in ensuring accurate and competitive bids for large-scale HVAC projects, managing key client relationships, and driving success through expert estimation and project coordination. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of HVAC systems, a strong background in mechanical estimating, and a proven track record of managing complex projects from start to finish.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee and manage the estimation process for HVAC projects, ensuring accurate, competitive, and detailed bids. Evaluate plans, specifications, and other project documents to prepare comprehensive labor, materials, and equipment estimates.
Serve as a critical point of contact for clients, understanding their needs, answering technical questions, and providing expert advice throughout the bidding process and project lifecycle.
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to review project scope, timelines, and requirements. Ensure that all estimates align with project goals and client specifications.
Analyze project costs, including labor, materials, and overhead, to ensure profitability. Identify potential risks and recommend solutions to mitigate cost overruns or delays.
Provide guidance and mentorship to junior estimators and support staff, promoting a collaborative work environment and ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of estimation efforts.
Stay up-to-date with industry trends, codes, and technologies. Proactively implement best practices to improve estimating processes and enhance departmental efficiency.
Qualifications
A high school diploma is required; a bachelor's degree in construction management, mechanical engineering, or a related field is preferred.
Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in HVAC estimating, with a proven track record in managing large commercial HVAC projects and providing accurate, competitive estimates.
In-depth knowledge of HVAC systems, materials, equipment, and industry standards. Familiarity with project specifications, building codes, and regulations is essential.
Proficient in industry-specific estimating software (e.g., Trimble AutoBid, Procore, etc.) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook). Experience with BIM software (AutoCAD, Revit) is a plus.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor, motivate, and guide team members. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact with clients, vendors, and internal teams.
Exceptional organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail and meeting deadlines.
A proven, local track record of stable employment in the HVAC or commercial construction industries, focusing on high-quality project delivery.
