Summary

We seek an experienced building automation programmer in San Diego, CA, who can support commercial mechanical construction projects. This role demands a local professional with a stable work history and at least three years of hands-on experience in building automation controls, particularly in HVAC systems within commercial buildings. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in BACnet and DDC controls and be proficient with industry-standard platforms such as ALC, Allerton, Tritium Niagara, and Distech.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement control sequences for HVAC systems in commercial buildings using BACnet and DDC technologies.
  • Lead the commissioning of building automation systems, ensuring all equipment functions are optimized and operational per design specifications.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues within building automation systems, providing timely support to ensure minimal downtime and optimal system performance.
  • Work closely with project managers, contractors, and other technicians to ensure seamless system integration and alignment with project objectives.
  • Maintain detailed records of system configurations, programming, and service activities, ensuring all documentation complies with industry standards and project requirements.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of three years of experience in building automation controls service, particularly with HVAC systems in commercial buildings.
  • Proficiency in BACnet and DDC controls and familiarity with platforms like ALC, Allerton, Tritium Niagara, and Distech.
  • Experience with Bluebeam, MS Project, AutoCAD, Revit, and related software tools for building automation and HVAC projects.
  • Must be based in San Diego, CA, with a local and stable work history in the commercial mechanical construction sector.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills, capable of identifying and resolving complex system issues efficiently.
Preferred Skills
  • Knowledge of additional systems such as Alerton, Schneider Electric, or Trane controls.
  • Experience working on both new installations and retrofit projects within commercial buildings.
  • Familiarity with energy-efficient building automation strategies and intelligent building technologies.
