Job Title: Senior HVAC Engineer
Location: San Francisco, CA

Position Summary
We are looking for an experienced and technically strong Senior HVAC Engineer to join our team and lead the design, coordination, and delivery of HVAC systems on major commercial construction projects. This role requires a deep understanding of HVAC systems (air-side), the ability to drive technical excellence, and a collaborative approach to working with project teams, field staff, and clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead HVAC system design for commercial, institutional, and mission-critical facilities.
  • Develop detailed mechanical design documents, including layouts, schedules, equipment selections, and specifications.
  • Perform load calculations, duct and pipe sizing, energy analysis, and system optimization.
  • Support preconstruction and estimating teams with design inputs and value engineering options.
  • Collaborate with project managers, BIM modelers, and field personnel to ensure constructability and alignment with field practices.
  • Participate in design reviews, coordination meetings, and site visits during the construction and commissioning phases.
  • Review and respond to RFIs, submittals, and field issues promptly and effectively.
  • Ensure compliance with local codes, standards (ASHRAE, Title 24), and client requirements.
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance across design and construction teams.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in HVAC design, preferably within commercial construction.
  • Proficient in mechanical system design (air distribution, controls, ventilation).
  • Experience with cleanrooms, labs, or data centers is a strong plus.
  • Proficiency in design software including AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, and Trane Trace or HAP.
  • Strong knowledge of California Building Code, Title 24, and applicable mechanical standards.
  • Excellent communication, technical writing, and interpersonal skills.
  • A California PE license (Professional Engineer – Mechanical) is preferred but not required.
