Position Overview
We seek a skilled and motivated Senior HVAC (Air-side) Mechanical Engineer, PE, to lead the design and coordination of air-side mechanical systems for various commercial and institutional projects. This role emphasizes HVAC system design—particularly air distribution—and integration into constructible solutions that support preconstruction planning and field operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the air-side HVAC and mechanical system design through all project phases, from schematic design to construction and commissioning.
  • Develop detailed mechanical drawings, diagrams, and technical specifications.
  • Perform engineering calculations for air flow, equipment sizing, and ventilation strategy.
  • Coordinate with BIM/VDC teams to develop 3D models and resolve system clashes.
  • Collaborate with project teams to ensure system designs are practical, efficient, and aligned with construction budgets and schedules.
  • Review and respond to RFIs, submittals, and shop drawings.
  • Interface directly with architects, consultants, subcontractors, and clients to align on system performance and design expectations.
  • Ensure compliance with California building codes, ASHRAE standards, Title 24, and LEED guidelines.
  • Mentor junior engineers and foster a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in mechanical HVAC design, focusing on air-side systems for commercial buildings.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in California (required).
  • Deep understanding of HVAC systems, including air handling, duct work distribution, ventilation, and energy-efficient controls.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, and HVAC design software (e.g., Trane Trace, HAP).
  • Familiarity with local permitting, energy codes, and compliance documentation.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and coordination skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in fast-paced project environments.
What We Offer
  • Competitive salary and annual performance bonuses.
  • Comprehensive benefits package: medical, dental, vision, 401(k) with employer match, and paid time off.
  • Career advancement and continuing education opportunities, including PE and LEED support.
  • A collaborative and technically driven culture.
  • Involvement in some of the Bay Area's most advanced, high-profile mechanical construction projects.
