Job Overview
The Manufacturing Safety Manager is responsible for developing, directing, and implementing safety programs to ensure a secure and compliant working environment. This role acts as a technical resource, supporting management and employees in minimizing occupational health and safety risks, environmental impacts, and unsafe work practices. The ideal candidate will proactively foster a strong safety culture through risk assessments, compliance measures, and continuous improvement of safety systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Safety Program Development: Create, implement, and maintain comprehensive EH&S policies and procedures to comply with OSHA, EPA, and other local regulations.
  • Training and Guidance: Design and deliver training programs for all employees on environmental health, safety protocols, and risk management. Provide ongoing guidance to management on EH&S matters.
  • Regulatory Compliance and Reporting: Serve as the primary point of contact with federal, state, and local environmental and safety agencies. Ensure timely submission of all reports and compliance documentation.
  • Incident Investigation and Risk Mitigation: Conduct thorough investigations of workplace incidents and collaborate with HR for accurate reporting. Perform risk assessments to identify potential hazards and gaps in safety systems.
  • Environmental Monitoring and Hazard Communication: Oversee environmental health data collection, including exposure to chemicals, noise, fumes, and other hazards. Manage hazardous material communication and maintain up-to-date Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
Qualifications
  • Minimum of four years of experience in a manufacturing environment with at least two years in a supervisory or managerial role.
  • Experience in a heavy industrial environment is highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience with OSHA regulations and compliance.
  • Strong computer proficiency, particularly with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Proven ability to perform risk assessments, develop safety protocols, and manage an Environmental Management System (ISO experience a plus).
  • Local and stable work history required.
