Job Overview
As the Manufacturing Safety Engineer, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive Employee Health and Safety (EH&S) programs to create a secure, compliant, and productive work environment. You will lead initiatives that prevent injuries, mitigate workplace hazards, and ensure adherence to regulatory requirements from OSHA, EPA, and state/local agencies. This role is pivotal in fostering a strong safety culture through proactive risk assessments, hands-on employee engagement, and continuous improvement of safety management systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Maintain EH&S Policies: Lead the design, implementation, and monitoring of EH&S compliance programs to align with regulatory requirements and company standards.
  • Training and Development: Identify training needs, develop relevant programs, and facilitate ongoing environmental, safety, and health training for employees at all levels.
  • Regulatory Compliance and Reporting: Serve as the primary point of contact with federal, state, and local environmental and safety agencies, ensuring compliance and timely reporting of all regulatory submissions.
  • Risk Assessments and Incident Management: Conduct comprehensive risk assessments, investigate workplace incidents, and collaborate with HR to accurately report and manage workers' compensation claims.
  • Hazardous Material and Environmental Management: Manage dangerous material communications, maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS), and oversee the Environmental Management System by ISO standards.
Qualifications
  • Experience: Minimum of four years in a manufacturing environment with at least two years in a supervisory or management capacity. Prior experience in a heavy industrial setting is highly preferred.
  • Technical Expertise: Proven experience with OSHA standards, safety regulations, environmental management systems, and hazardous materials protocols.
  • Communication Skills: Bilingual proficiency in Spanish is highly preferred, given the diverse workforce and need for clear communication in safety matters.
  • Technical Proficiency: Competent in using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) to create reports, track safety data, and communicate effectively.
  • Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead and manage safety personnel, drive a safety-oriented culture, and develop safety solutions collaboratively with management and staff.
