We seek a highly skilled Building Automation Technician with expertise in HVAC controls and automation systems for large commercial buildings, including data centers, labs, and hospitals. This role requires hands-on experience with building automation controls, focusing on installing, servicing, and troubleshooting HVAC systems in complex environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform installation, programming, and commissioning of building automation systems, including HVAC equipment, in large commercial settings such as data centers, hospitals, and labs.
- Provide service and maintenance for HVAC controls, focusing on chillers, boilers, and central plant systems to ensure reliable and efficient operation.
- Analyze, diagnose, and optimize control systems for improved energy efficiency and operational performance in complex environments.
- Work closely with facility managers and maintenance teams to address control issues and implement solutions that meet the building's climate and operational needs.
- Document all service work accurately, maintain compliance with local building codes, and adhere to industry best practices.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience working with HVAC control systems in commercial buildings, with a preference for data center, hospital, or lab environments.
- Proficiency with systems such as Tridium Niagara, Johnson Controls Metasys, Distech, Bacnet, and others.
- Familiarity with tools such as AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and MS Project for designing and maintaining automation systems.
- A stable work history with demonstrated expertise in the San Jose market is required.
- Relevant certifications such as EPA Universal or technical training in HVAC, building automation, or control systems are highly preferred.
- Prior experience working on building automation controls in data centers or other mission-critical facilities is highly desirable.
- Expertise in managing and optimizing central plant operations, including chillers, boilers, and applied HVAC systems.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex control systems and implement innovative solutions to enhance performance and reliability.
