Working with Gulfstream
How the recruiting process works and what it costs you (nothing).
What does Gulfstream do for candidates?
We're a direct-hire recruiting firm for commercial mechanical construction — HVAC, plumbing, piping, sheet metal, controls and service. You talk to a recruiter who knows the trade, we match you to openings that fit your experience and market, and we prep you for the interview. Browse open roles or read about the process on our careers page.
Does it cost me anything?
Nothing, ever. The hiring employer pays our fee. You are never charged at any stage — not for the call, the submission, or the placement.
Is my search confidential?
Yes. We never send your resume anywhere without your approval, and we won't approach your current employer. Your details stay with your recruiter until you say go.
How long does the process take?
Usually a short recruiter call first, then an interview within a week or two when the fit is right. We tell you where you stand instead of leaving you guessing.
What if nothing fits right now?
Set a job alert with your trade and region. You'll get one email when something matching opens, and you can unsubscribe in one click.
HVAC careers
Common questions from technicians, installers and project leaders.
What kinds of HVAC jobs do you recruit for?
Commercial and industrial only — service technicians, chiller mechanics, installers, controls and building automation techs, project managers, superintendents and branch leadership. Never residential. See what's open by city on our HVAC jobs by state page.
Do I need certifications to get placed?
It depends on the role. EPA 608 is expected on service work; some markets and roles call for OSHA 10/30, NATE, or state licenses. Your recruiter will tell you exactly what a specific opening requires before anything is submitted.
I'm an apprentice or early in my career — can you help?
Most of our roles are for experienced tradespeople, but apprenticeship is the best on-ramp into the trade. Our apprenticeship directory lists programs by trade and state.
Do I have to be in the union?
No. We recruit for both union and open-shop employers. If a role is dispatched through a hall, we'll tell you up front.
Which cities have the most HVAC openings right now?
Our busiest markets include Phoenix, Dallas, Atlanta, Orlando, Tampa and Southern California — see the full list on the locations map, which updates with live openings.
Data center HVAC
The fastest-growing corner of commercial cooling.
Why are data centers hiring so many HVAC techs?
Data centers run cooling around the clock, and every new campus needs technicians to install, start up and maintain chillers, air handlers and controls. It's some of the steadiest commercial HVAC work in the country. See live openings on our data center HVAC jobs hub.
What experience do data center roles ask for?
Critical-facilities experience helps — chillers, CRAH/CRAC units, controls and commissioning — but many employers will train a strong commercial service tech into the environment. Mission-critical attitudes (uptime, procedures, safety) matter as much as the equipment list.
Which data center markets are hottest?
Northern Virginia, Phoenix, Dallas, Atlanta and Columbus are among the busiest construction markets, with growth across the Midwest and Mountain West too. Each has its own page — start at data center HVAC jobs.
Are data center jobs travel or permanent?
Both exist. New construction brings traveling install and commissioning crews (often with per diem), while operating campuses hire permanent on-site technicians. The job posting and your recruiter will make clear which it is.
Pay and benefits
How pay works on our roles and where to see real numbers.
Why don't your job postings show salaries?
Every role is competitive salary depending on experience, and the exact range is discussed with you on the recruiter call before anything is submitted. We don't publish numbers we can't stand behind.
Where can I see real pay numbers for my trade?
For union work, the local's own published wage sheet is the source of truth — browse our union wage pages for journeyman rates by local, city and state, with the effective date shown on every figure.
What benefits come with these jobs?
Benefits are set by the hiring employer. Most direct-hire positions in this market include medical coverage, retirement (401k or a union pension and annuity), paid time off, and vehicle or tool allowances on field roles. Your recruiter walks through the exact package before you interview.
Do data center jobs pay more?
Mission-critical work often carries a premium because uptime is everything, but pay still depends on the market, the role and your experience. Your recruiter will share the real range for a specific opening on the call.
