Job Overview
We seek an experienced and detail-oriented Sr. Plumbing/HVAC Estimator based in San Diego, CA. This position is critical in delivering accurate and competitive cost estimates for complex commercial mechanical construction projects. You will be vital in shaping project budgets and ensuring successful project execution. This role requires a strong understanding of plumbing and HVAC systems, including industry-specific technologies, and the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external partners.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and analyze construction documents, blueprints, and specifications to prepare detailed cost estimates for HVAC, plumbing, and piping systems.
  • Evaluate materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor quotes to ensure accurate and competitive pricing.
  • Prepare conceptual and detailed estimates for design-build, design-assist, and hard-bid projects, ensuring all technical requirements are met.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to gather essential data, resolve discrepancies, and propose value engineering solutions to improve cost efficiency.
  • Maintain and update cost estimation databases and utilize industry-standard software (e.g., Bluebeam, Trimble AutoBid, Autodesk Revit, Navisworks) to support accuracy and streamline workflows.
  • Supervise junior estimators, offering guidance on complex projects and ensuring alignment with best practices in estimating methodologies.
  • To ensure precise estimates, Stay updated with local and regional market trends, building codes, and labor rates.
Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, construction management, or a related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in plumbing and HVAC estimating within the commercial mechanical construction sector.
  • In-depth knowledge of mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, piping, and medical gas.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and project specifications.
  • Strong command of estimation software such as Bluebeam, MS Project, Trimble AutoBid, and Autodesk platforms 
  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams.
  • Proven local and stable work history with strong ties to the San Diego commercial construction market.
