Position Summary
The Forensic Mechanical Engineer will critically investigate and analyze mechanical failures for clients across various industries. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of mechanical engineering principles and a proven forensic analysis track record. This position involves fieldwork and lab analysis and requires excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
Location
This position is based in our Seattle, WA, office and requires local residency. Remote work is not available for this role.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct on-site investigations to gather data and assess mechanical failures.
Perform laboratory tests and simulations to identify root causes
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including legal experts and insurance adjusters
Produce detailed reports, documenting findings, methodologies, and recommendations
Provide expert witness testimony in legal cases when necessary
Engage in ongoing professional development to stay abreast of industry advancements
Adhere to safety guidelines and regulations during all investigative activities
Communicate effectively with clients, presenting findings in a clear and understandable manner
Requirements
Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical forensic engineering
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field; advanced degree preferred
A Professional Engineering (PE) license is a plus but not mandatory
Stable work history, demonstrating commitment and career progression
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Willingness to travel locally for fieldwork
Must be a local candidate residing in or willing to relocate to Seattle, WA
