We seek a Forensic Mechanical Engineer to join our team and contribute to our reputation for thorough, fact-based investigations.

Position Summary

The Forensic Mechanical Engineer will critically investigate and analyze mechanical failures for clients across various industries. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of mechanical engineering principles and a proven forensic analysis track record. This position involves fieldwork and lab analysis and requires excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

Location

This position is based in our Seattle, WA, office and requires local residency. Remote work is not available for this role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct on-site investigations to gather data and assess mechanical failures.

  • Perform laboratory tests and simulations to identify root causes

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including legal experts and insurance adjusters

  • Produce detailed reports, documenting findings, methodologies, and recommendations

  • Provide expert witness testimony in legal cases when necessary

  • Engage in ongoing professional development to stay abreast of industry advancements

  • Adhere to safety guidelines and regulations during all investigative activities

  • Communicate effectively with clients, presenting findings in a clear and understandable manner

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical forensic engineering

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field; advanced degree preferred

  • A Professional Engineering (PE) license is a plus but not mandatory

  • Stable work history, demonstrating commitment and career progression

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Willingness to travel locally for fieldwork

  • Must be a local candidate residing in or willing to relocate to Seattle, WA
