Job Title: Building Automation Controls Assistant Project Manager
Location: Chicago, IL

Summary
This role offers the opportunity to oversee the implementation and optimization of cutting-edge control systems, supporting essential mechanical and electrical infrastructure in commercial buildings. With a focus on project management and technical expertise, this position is ideal for those with strong backgrounds in building automation, mechanical engineering, and control systems like BACnet, DDC, and Tridium Niagara.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Project Manager in planning, executing, and closing building automation projects, ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met.

  • Support the design, installation, and integration of Building Automation Systems (BAS), including BACnet, DDC controls, and various control platforms like Tridium Niagara, ALC, Johnson Controls Metasys, and Schneider Electric systems.

  • Utilize AutoCAD and Visio to assist with system design, project schematics, and as-built documentation.

  • Collaborate with vendors, subcontractors, and in-house teams to ensure proper installation and commissioning of BAS systems.

  • Provide on-site and remote troubleshooting support, ensuring systems operate efficiently and meet the client's specifications.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience in Building Automation Systems (BAS), controls engineering, or project management in a related field. A local and stable work history is required.

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. An EIT or PE license is a plus.

  • Strong knowledge of AutoCAD, Visio, BACnet, and DDC controls and familiarity with significant control platforms such as Tridium Niagara, Distech, Alerton, Johnson Controls Metasys, and Schneider Electric.

  • Experience with project management software like MS Project and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with clients, team members, and other stakeholders.
